|Ghinzani Motorsport to field rookie Kevin Giovesi at Silverstone
The fourth round of the 2013 Auto GP championship, set for this weekend at Silverstone, is set to feature a fresh new addition as Ghinzani Motorsport will be running a second car for Kevin Giovesi. The team, owned by former F.1 racer Piercarlo Ghinzani, will pair Romanian Robert Visoiu, the youngest driver in the 2013 series, with the Italian-based Giovesi, who had already met with them during last December's Barcelona test. The results were good then and Giovesi, who's running a full-time schedule in the GP2 Series, is set to provide the series with even more competition than in its first three round of the season. He will rejoin Visoiu after having been team-mates last year in Formula 3 in the Team Ghinzani stable.
Piercarlo Ghinzani: “Our team will be on-track with two Auto GP cars for the first time. We went for a soft start in this series, but we managed to achieve a podium finish straight out of the box with Visoiu at Monza. Now we're set to become a 2-car operation, a new experience for us with high-power cars like the Auto GP ones, producing more than 550 horsepower”.
Enzo Coloni: “While the Ghinzani Motorsport team have just made their way to Auto GP, they already know how to make things work. After just three races, and considered the good potential showed by Visoiu, they decided to expand their operation giving a quick driver like Kevin Giovesi the chance to take part in a competitive series like Auto GP”.
