|Ibiza Racing Team signs Fabrizio Crestani for Silverstone
Ibiza Racing Team, a debuting team in motor competition and in the 2013 Auto GP, is set to field Treviso-based racer Fabrizio Crestani in the upcoming round at Silverstone. The team, owned by Giuseppe Cipriani and managed by Modesto Benegiamo, scored wins at Monza and Marrakech with Sergio Campana but will be missing Cipriani, who usually drives the second car. The Team Principal and driver is suffering from back pains that will prevent him from taking part in the UK round. After having entered the GP2 Series in 2012, Crestani will replace him for the occasion and will be back in a series where he enjoyed a positive 3-year stint in the past.
Giuseppe Cipriani: “After the race at Budapest I was suffering from back issues. I hoped to be back in full shape for Silverstone, but the doctors suggested me to take some rest. So I thought at Fabrizio Crestani as the best possible replacement for my car. He's quick and experienced, and will help the team to score some valuable points for the championship”.
Enzo Coloni: “I'm happy to see Fabrizio Crestani back in action in Auto GP. Ibiza Racing Team showed they can be a top-level team and Fabrizio will be able to score positive results. He's going to increase the overall value of the series thanks to his GP2 Series experience. I'm saddened not to see on-track Team Principal Giuseppe Cipriani. I wish him a prompt recovery to see him back running from next round at Mugello”.
